About Helen Alex Murray
Biography – Helen Alex Murray
Helen Alex Murray is a Vancouver-based abstract artist working from Pandora’s Box Studios in East Vancouver. Her paintings explore the relationship between movement and stillness, light and depth. Using resin, metallic foils, pigment, and wood, she builds layered surfaces that shift with the light and invite viewers into a sense of quiet intensity.
Each work begins with a chosen palette that sets the tone for shape and motion. Her process is both intuitive and deliberate, balancing control and chance to reveal emotion through form. The result is work that feels grounded yet fluid, composed yet alive with reflection and motion.
Over the past decade, Helen Alex has developed a distinctive practice shaped by her experience as a neurodivergent artist and her deep sensitivity to contrast and rhythm. She has exhibited in the Eastside Culture Crawl for five years, and her paintings are held in private collections across Canada.
